Significance of Olympic Education

Olympic Education is the educative process that aims in the configuration or even modification of models of behavior of young persons, according to the diachronic values of Olympism, receiving into account the cells of modern culture. It connects the past with the modern educational and cultural values, combining the culture of body with the intellectual dimension of person. The program «Olympiaki Paideia» (Olympic Education) aspires it approaches and it includes all that they are involved with the education and the education, without no discrimination. Aim his is to inspire, to sensitize and to mobilize the students, the young persons of Greece and Community in the configuration of behaviors and values of friendship, in the growth of collaboration with respect in the values of pluralism, the comprehension and the peace, in the aid of autonomy, the critical thought and the responsibility.

Objectives of Olympic Education

Objective of Program is we build the Open School, a Open School which invites the School and Educational community, the Associations of Parents, the society of citizens to participate in a line from activities, initiatives and events for the culture, the sports, the free time with objectives:

  • Render the schools and the educational spaces beehives of cultural creation and athletic education, with given the training and pedagogic importance of sports as social phenomenon and his recognized high acceptance from all the society and particularly from the young persons.
  • Propagate the values of sports as precious good that improves the health, it creates intellectual and mental elevation and it promotes the quality of life of individual. In the society of new individuality, the sports as institution of fundamental social values import and serve the significance of Society of Citizens with a way life experience and effective. Arming respect other, the fellow athlete or opponent, the learning and the observation of rules of collective life, the feeling of solidarity, the effort of «ef agonizesthae» (well fight), integration in the team, the promotion, that is to say, the attribute of citizen of attendance, solidarity and tolerance constitute, indicatively, values that are cultivated through the sports.
  • Promote the individual faculties and it strengthens the collective action via the voluntary and athletic movement in the school life as well as the importance of Olympic delivery and education in the sports.
  • Strengthen the voluntary offer and the conduct of voluntary action in in the frame of educational processes or even at the same time with this.
  • Strengthen collaborations and it promotes the creation of networks between educational, athletic, cultural institutions, the local self-government and the Not Governmental Organizations aspiring in the encouragement of social role of young persons but also in the suitable preparation and education new as volunteers, spectators, sports fans, athletes.
  • Promote the equality of sexes and opportunities, as well as it supports the social dialogue for the application of supporting institutions of open school.
  • Give particular gravity in the parents (familial volunteerism) and in the undertaking of common initiatives with the students so that they are strengthened the critical spirit, the initiatives and the mobilization of children and young persons in the process of learning and social offer.
  • Sensitize the educational and school community round the subjects as the tolerance in the diversity and multi culture and is encouraged the action in the aid a healthy, democratic open and tolerant society.
  • Upgrade the quality of educational work through the choice and integration of activities that will be based on one wide base of knowledge, dexterities, attitudes and experiences so that it is encouraged and is strengthened learning all the duration of life.
